Safeguarding

As a school we play a key part in the community, and as such we are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.

We expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We strive to ensure that consistent effective safeguarding policies and procedures are in place to support children, families as well as  staff at school.

The following members of staff lead on Safeguarding at Esher High School:

  • Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Child Protection Officer is Natalie Searle nsearle@esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) are Andy King, Kathryn Plummer, Jo Gale, Karen Smurthwaite and Iasone Lucas.

To promote a safe environment for young people at Esher High School our selection and recruitment policy includes all statutory checks on staff and regular volunteers including Enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service) checks.

If you have any serious concerns about your child or any other student at the School, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team who will be able to provide you with the best advice and help using the appropriate degree of confidentiality. Additionally, if your child is ever worried about the safety or wellbeing of a friend, they too can talk to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).

You can find our Safeguarding policy, together with policies for Children with Health Needs who cannot attend school and Supporting Children with Medical Conditions on the policy pages here.

We have a Well being and Safeguarding page designed specifically for our students, please use this link to access.

We have also included a link to the government statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education, for your information.
