Year 7 Transition September 2025

We're so excited to welcome you to our school and have planned a busy schedule to make the transition to secondary school as seamless as possible.

Your Head of Year: Mr Marriage

Meet Mr Marriage who will be your Head of Year.  He's excited to welcome you all to our school community and the start of your exciting journey in Year 7.  You'll see Mr Marriage a lot during assemblies and tutor time and he'll help you make the best of your time in secondary school.  He said, "I look forward to supporting you every step of the way as you settle into secondary school life. Having worked at Esher High School for over 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of being Head of Year for three different cohorts.  Each year brings its own unique energy and challenges, and I’m always inspired by the growth, resilience, and achievements of our students.  I’m confident that you will be no exception. My role is to ensure you feel safe, happy, and ready to learn — both in and out of the classroom. Alongside your tutors and teachers, I’ll be here to guide you through the exciting opportunities ahead and to help you develop both academically and personally.  Welcome aboard – I can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together."  Mr Marriage is also a PE teacher at Esher High School.

Primary School Visits

If you are joining from one of our main feeder schools (Chandlers Field, Claygate, Cranmere, Esher Church, Hurst Park, St Lawerence or Thames Ditton Junior) we have arranged for our colleagues to visit the school to talk to the children and their Year 6 teachers about the transition and answer their questions.  Our transition team will be joined by 2 of our Year 7 students, who are alumni from the primary school to share their experiences.

If you are not joining from a main feeder school or are new to the area, you should have received an invitation to a "mini induction event" we are hosting at Esher High School in June.  Please let us know if you haven't received this invitation (admissions@esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk).  This will be an opportunity to meet other children and families in a similar situation.

Induction Day: Tuesday 1 July

For all of our children joining in September, our main Induction Day will be Tuesday 1 July.  We are looking forward to welcoming them for a full day at their new school.  The day will start at 8.45am and finish at 3.30pm.  You will receive a letter at the beginning of June with all the information.  Parents will have their own Induction event in the evening!  Again, all the details will be shared in the letter.

Summer Camp: Thursday 28 and Friday 29 August

We love hosting Summer Camp for our new Year 7 students!  It's a fabulous opportunity for the children to make new friends, learn their way around the school site and have fun.  Further details about the 2 days will be sent to you after the May half term.

Start of September

Our Year 7 students start officially at Esher Church of England High School on Wednesday 3 September.  The rest of the school will return on Thursday 4 September, so that's another day for you all to settle in.

Below we've put together lots of information and links that we hope you will find useful in preparing for the move to Esher High School.
