Esher Church of England High School is celebrating another year of outstanding success in this summer’s GCSE and vocational examinations, with students achieving record-setting results across the board.

This year, 80% of all GCSE and Level 2 qualifications were achieved at grade 4 and above. A whopping 6% increase on last year. 80% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, a 4.5% increase on last year’s impressive performance. Students secured an incredible 155 grade 9s – up from 100 in 2024. We are also so proud that they achieved 29% of grades (643 total) at grade 7 and above, a 7% increase on last year.

Headteacher, Mr Andy King, said:
“I am immensely proud of our students. They have shown such resilience, commitment and determination throughout their education with us, and today we see the reward for all that hard work. These results are truly outstanding, and every student should be proud of what they have achieved. Not only are they leaving with well-deserved results, but they have developed and grown into amazing young people who will continue to thrive and achieve great things in whatever path they choose.”

There have been exceptional achievements by our students. These include students who have achieved their target grades and beyond. Some of our highest achievers to celebrate today are:

Matthew 11 grade 9s

Jerry 10 grade 9s

Yossi 8 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s.

Sophie 8 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s.

Megan 7 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s.

Isabella, George, Lucy, Holly and Martha with 6 grade 9s and a range of 2 to 4 grade 8s

Clemmie and Ben with 5 grade 9s

Mr King added “These successes are a testament not only to our students’ efforts, but also to the dedication of our staff and the support of families. Together we have created an environment where our young people can flourish, and today we celebrate their achievements as a whole school community.”

EHS Year 10 students first visited the Lilayi Elephant Orphanage in 2015. When baby elephants are found alone in the wild it is usually because mothers have been killed by poachers. Lilayi is very close to where we stay for our Zambia Tag Rugby Coaching Tours so we have visited each year since.

Our first adopted elephant was Nkala who has been successfully reintroduced to the wild in Kafue National Park.

EHS Year 10 students first adopted Kasewe in 2017 shortly after she had entered the orphanage. Two years later we have sponsored her again and will visit her in July. The orphanage are hoping to send her to a release facility later this year where she will vey gradually be prepared for life in the wild.
