Year 10 Textile GCSE students visit Hampton Court
On a freezing day in January, Mrs Williamson took the GCSE Textiles group to Hampton Court to get inspiration for their Year 10 Coursework.
The students have to design and make a wall hanging for their project work as well as investigate the history of tapestries. They were able to admire the Tapestries Henry VIII commissioned for Hampton Court in the 1540’s and still hanging in the Tudor apartments.
The students then spent the day sketching and photographing anything that caught their eye and could be used in a wall hanging they are designing and making over the rest of Year 10. They really enjoyed the time to look and sketch and reflect on what they were interested in and what would make an original starting point for the coursework.
