Recruitment Information for 2017 entry

Teach Surrey is a partnership of three leading National Teaching Schools, comprising Esher C of E High School, West Hill School and George Abbot SCITT, to deliver both Core ITT and School Direct placements across both Primary and Secondary phases.  Both training options lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and trainees then have the option to study for a PGCE at Masters Level.

With over 10 years’ experience leading School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), over 190 teachers have been trained, 95% of whom went on to work in Surrey Schools and many are now in positions of responsibility. Both Ofsted and past trainees have rated the SCITT provision as ‘Outstanding’.

Our collaborative way of working enables us to offer a very unique teacher training opportunity in Surrey as the three schools work together to deliver a comprehensive and innovative professional studies programme.  Training is delivered in different contexts by outstanding practitioners from across the partnership of schools.

We believe that establishing the correct ethos and high levels of professionalism are core to the success of our trainees and, as such, there is an intense induction period at the start of the course delivered here at Esher C of E High School, where we establish clear course values and expectations.

We have developed a unique ‘Consultant Led Learning Walk’ model which coaches trainees to identify outstanding teaching at the earliest opportunity.   This, combined with a unique input from our Special Education partners at West Hill School, enables us to deliver an outstanding training opportunity which prepares ‘all teachers to teach all children’.

Our accredited provider for this programme is George Abbot SCITT who currently accredits for the secondary sector. We are delighted that the partnership is now working closely with the Diocese of Guildford to assist Faith Schools with their delivery of School Direct placements.
