PE Curriculum

What can I expect to cover in my Physical Education lessons?

Select the link that refers to you on the left hand side and see what you will be covering and when. Below is a basic outline of the PE Curriculum.

Year 7, 8 & 9; KS3 pupils have four hours of Physical Education over the two week timetable. All Students in year 7 and 8 cover the following schemes of work; Multi Skills, Invasion games, Dance, Net and Wall Games, Outdoor Adventurous Activities, Gymnastics, Health and Exercise, Athletics, Swimming and Striking and Fielding.

Year 9 students are currently given the option to choose two pathways they want to follow. Options are taken at the end of the first half term after pupils compete in a competition and tournament unit.

We offer four pathways - Aesthetic (gymnastics, dance, cheer leading etc...), Games (invasion, net and wall, striking and fielding etc...), Fitness (testing, components of fitness and methods of training) and Leadership (organisation, communication and planning skills in sport). Most pupils follow their first two choices but this is dependent on pupil and staff timetable allocations.

Information on when pupils will be covering each unit can be found by clicking on the KS3 link.

Year 10 & 11; All pupils complete two hours of Physical Education over the two week timetable. All Esher High students work towards a qualification in PE and information on these are found in the KS4 area. Pupils select the qualification to follow at the end of the first half term and after they complete the 'Year 10 Champion' competition and tournament unit.
